Blurring the selfie with surrealism by Ram Imagery

Social Media has come a long way since Kim Kardashian’s sex tape was trending on the internet. She fine-tuned the concept of “selfies” into an art form. Her cropped, ‘shopped and buffed snaps propelled her onto centre stage in the digital world. Here the photography of RAM Imagery takes this a step further with his erotic selfies.

We take you now to pics of NYC artist Mauricio Rodriguez who takes this concept to yet another level. His sexy selfies blend home made porn with the surrealism of a Dali painting. Bulging muscles, beautiful butts, jockstraps and leather harnesses are all sensual props in his etherial portraits. They portray a dreamlike narrative of a sexual extravaganza. Are the memories of lovers or drug induced orgy apparitions, who can say.  As a result his images punch a very strong sex vibe your way.

His transition to selfies

After many professional and commercial successes, Mauricio decided to immerse his life in this new passion. At first he kept himself behind the camera but more and more he ventures and frolics in front of his lens. Mauricio frequently uses his own body to visualise the mood as he fine-tunes his art. He has come to realise that talent is situational, directly inspired and influenced by one’s upbringing, social environment, life long struggles and discoveries. His belief is that these are all triggers of the creative mind.

Mauricio says, “We now live in a world of digital access and intangible personas ripe for the art of appropriation. This work is based on social media voyeurism and the redefinition of portraiture, aka the selfie. We are unlocking ourselves to the world and craving the attention of digital acceptance, instant gratification and the imaginary perfection.” (gt)
